Hello, my name is Kate. As you are looking in this directory I am guessing that life is not easy for you at the moment. Perhaps you are struggling with anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, an eating disorder or some other challenge. Maybe I can help. I am an integrative psychotherapist, counsellor and clinical hypnotherapist with over 25 years experience of working with individuals, groups, children, young people and adults. I now work mainly with adults and young people in a gentle but challenging way with the emphasis always on good, non-judgemental listening, genuine positive regard and plenty of support.
As an integrative psychotherapist and counsellor, I have trained to use different techniques and will mix and match them them according to your needs. We may embark on an in depth exploration of your past and help you relate it to how you live in the present. Possibly you have just experienced a major life event and want to talk it through so we could work together for six weeks focussing on that event. Maybe cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) would be more helpful in understanding how your thoughts and feelings affect your behaviour or perhaps hypnotherapy to find underlying subconscious patterns that affect your day to day life. I also use a technique called Brain Working Recursive Therapy (BWRT) it is a science-based, totally grounded methodology that deals with uncomfortable emotional or psychological triggers before you are even aware of them. Most other therapies work on the response after it has been generated, requiring you to tell the practitioner what you're thinking about - but with BWRT® the problem is dealt with 'at source', before it even gets to the concious mind. I also offer informal counselling which means that you could come for a single session of up to 2 hours as and when you need to.
Through all your therapy, you will be offered a safe nurturing space and as I am a person-centered therapist the emphasis will be on you and your thoughts and feelings. I will always treat you with respect and integrity and the goal will always be to support you in being the best you you can be.
I work in a welcoming self- contained room with a beautiful view of an orchard in the grounds of an old farmhouse with the added advantage of private parking. However if you prefer telephone or Skype/facetime counselling because of distance or mobility problems, that can be arranged.
