About me

I have an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counselling and several years of experience both within an private practice and with M.I.N.D.  working as an Integrative Counsellor. I have also been a tutor in Counselling Skills for Adult Education for York City Council and Derbyshire County Council. I am also a qualified Hypnotherapist and have managed an Inclusion Unit for disaffected adolescents; worked on several inner city projects as well as Conflict and Reconciliation work in Northern Ireland.

People can often be confused and wary of counselling as they have little or no idea of what to expect and they often come to it at a time when they feel most vulnerable.  This is why that as a counsellor, I  strive to create a 'safe place' where the client can feel valued and reassured. I make no judgments and treat every client as unique with their own set of needs and expectations. Everything you say will be kept totally confidential and we will work at your own time and pace.

Counselling is about listening and attending actively so that you,the client, feel able to talk freely with no judgement and expect an empathic response from me,the counsellor. It's a shared journey towards change and acceptance. Whatever the issue be it depression, stress and anxiety ,a relationship issue, an issue from your past or something in your present life which is preventing you from moving forward, we can work together to find a way of coping or even a possible solution.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
