Kasia Marzyńska - Psychotherapist MSc, UKCP (Accred) and EMDR Therapist
About me
Welcome! I'm Kasia, a qualified and experienced counsellor, psychotherapist and EMDR Therapist offering both short- and long-term therapy to adults. I work in person from my welcoming practice in Swiss Cottage (North West London) and ONLINE.
I specialise in working with various mental health difficulties including anxiety and panic, depression, abuse, trauma and PTSD, relationship issues, sexual identity, self-esteem, phobias, work problems and stress, bereavement and loss, life transitions and disordered eating.
HOW THERAPY CAN HELP
There are times in our lives when the challenges we experience can feel overwhelming; we can feel lost, lonely, hopeless and stuck. We sometimes react by withdrawing, isolating ourselves. We can lose sight of who we are, what our strength are, and we can end up simply existing, not being able to find joy in life.
Therapy gives us support to navigate through life’s challenges with greater ease and helps restore our ability to make empowering choices, to find meaning of past events and regain control over our feelings, actions and ultimately our life.
Relational therapy, I practice, strengthen our ability to build and maintain healthy and satisfying relationships with those around us and ourselves. We address not only inner struggles but also how we relate to our immediate environment, family, friends, colleagues and the society we interact with, to regain emotional health and happiness.
MY APPROACH
I work in a holistic and practical way to attune to your specific needs and uniqueness. To do that, I integrate various therapeutic principles from Gestalt Psychotherapy, Mindfulness, Art therapy and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing). I draw on creativity, body oriented work and most importantly our therapeutic relationship.
I believe that the therapeutic relationship is at the heart of any healing process, therefore, building a trusting, open, caring relationship is the bedrock of my approach. I provide a confidential and warm space where you can talk openly without the fear of being judged or criticised.
Life may become challenging at times and I am aware that it may not be easy to reach out for support. I offer you an accepting and non-judgemental space to share feeling and emotions that you may have never shared before. My aim is to provide you a warm, empowering experience and to help you restore your inner strength and resources to achieve positive changes in life.
I welcome any questions, and I look forward to hearing from you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a MSc in Gestalt Psychotherapy and Clinical Diploma in Gestalt Psychotherapy from Metanoia Institute (Middlesex University). I am certified in Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, and hold Mindfulness and Compassion Practitioner Certificates. I'm certified EMDR Therapist from The EMDR Academy.
MY WORK EXPERIENCE
In addition to my private practice, I have worked for several years in different settings including educational institutions, charities, the NHS as a counsellor, psychotherapist and assessor.
I have worked in One in Four, offering counselling to adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse and trauma dealing with issues such as anger, shame, fear, sexual identity, relationship problems, eating disorders and addictions.
I am a registered and accredited member of UKCP and adhere to their Professional Code of Practice and a member of EMDR Association.
