About me

Hi, I'm Karmela and I am a fully qualified counsellor and psychotherapist (BACP Registered). Whether you are looking for more clarity in your life, need support with life changes, or seeking help with difficulties such as depression or anxiety, at Mixed Emotions Counselling I will work with you collaboratively to help you cut through the noise and find your true voice. The most important aspect of therapy is that we "click" and feel a connection that allows you to open up and feel safe and understood. Working either face to face in West London or online, you and I will work as team focused on you, where you will provide the expertise on yourself and your life and I will provide empathy, challenge, insight and practical strategies. Together we work with curiosity and compassion to untangle your mixed emotions and help you along your path of self-discovery.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a postgraduate diploma in integrative counselling and psychotherapy and a bachelor's degree in psychology. Whilst being an integrative counselling therapist, I work relationally, meaning we will use the therapeutic relationship as a window of insight and understanding, implementing different tools and techniques that work for you.

I have training and experience in working with many common issues such as anxiety, depression, processing loss, understanding relationships (family, friends or partners) and self-esteem and confidence. I also have training in working with race and identity and welcome those from all backgrounds who want to explore this part of their identity or experience as well as those who feel it's important to the context of their other concerns. Relationship, sexual and gender diversity is also welcome in my practice, again whether it is the focus or an important part of your context.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
