My name is Karin Molloy. I am a psychologist with academic degree in Brazil, and a psychotherapist following an analytical school named psychodynamics.
I am a professional recognised by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and, as such, I work under the code of ethics of that institution, which includes the preservation of the patient´s confidentiality, regular clinic supervision and continuous professional development.
Prior to expanding my consultancy and private practice I have been working in London for many years in non-governmental organisations and gained clinical experience, by being trained as a psychotheratist at Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust in London.
Currently I work both in the NHS mental health services and in my private practice.
I meet adults on an individual basis, having weekly meetings. I am interested in what type of relationship you have with yourself and with other people. I find it interesting to explore how the childhood experiences and the relationship with parents, family and other people can determine the type of life an individual end up living as an adult. My role as a therapist will be to help you to establish associations between the past and the present in a safe environment. By better understanding these associations, you will be able to know yourself better and elaborate your difficulties and conflicts, being able to make decisions based on what you want or need at the present time, instead of allowing past experiences to condition your choices and behaviours.
I like to work with people in the long term, for I believe that changes take time to happen. However, if it is appropriate, I can offer a more limited time treatment, in cases where there is a more specific conflict to be analysed, which does not require a long-term commitment. That will depend on what is best for you, and what you feel you need the most.

There are studies that point to the efficacy of online therapy, demonstrating that some clients can only appeal to psychotherapy that way, despite their manifest necessity.
Online psychotherapy is an offer of an alternative help made possible when traditional psychotherapy is not acessible, and it does not intend to replace the face-to-face relation. The goal is to reach people who need help and would not get that another way.
The online service lasts 50 minutes, just like the meeting at the medical office. The online service has he same ethical precepts of confidentiality and privacy as the ones in the face-to-face meeting. In order to use that tool, the person concerned need to have access to the internet via webcam.
