About me
Are you living with despair or hopelessness? Are you constantly trying to make sense of the world, trying to find a sense of meaning?
How would it feel to talk to someone who can understand this with you? How might it be to have someone help you work out what is meaningful to you?
Are you living with a sense of being 'less than', not good enough? Is there a part of you quietly hoping someone will notice your worth?
How would it be to meet with someone who doesn't judge you, who is compassionate towards you and gives you space to explore your self-belief and self-worth?
If these sentences carry meaning for you, we already have a shared understanding of the struggles that many people live with. Through life experience and study, I have learnt that healing, developing inner confidence and greater self assurance are real possibilities.
I take an understanding approach, based on the premise that the mind develops coping strategies during times of extreme or prolonged duress. When these ways of coping become ingrained, they become problematic, as the original threat to well-being is no longer present.
Combining work around beliefs and using research on the nervous system, creates a pathway to a more hopeful and meaningful way of living; moving forward with inner confidence.
If you feel your way of living is causing you sadness, if you feel patterns of behaviour are limiting your life, I invite you to get in touch.
You are welcome to contact me by email and we can arrange our first meeting. If you would prefer an introductory phone call prior to meeting, I am happy to arrange this for you.
I am a member of the NCPS and follow the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.
Training, qualifications & experience
Pursuing a long held interest in understanding how different people make sense of life, I decided to study and qualify as a counsellor. I completed my Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling at Highlands College, Jersey. As part of my training, I completed my placement with Autism Jersey.
I continue my training and development. Workshops and courses I have attended include: Practising Existential Therapy by Ernesto Spinelli, Working at Relational Depth by Mick Cooper, Trauma and the Body by Carolyn Spring and Dealing with Distress by Carolyn Spring.
