Karen Storey MBACP
Office Suite 5
Hello, and welcome to my profile.
I thoroughly enjoy my job. I love to watch people grow and evolve before my eyes following only a few sessions. I do not profess to have the answers for people, however I do feel I can be effective in helping that change come about. Being a parent and a grandparent myself I completely understand life can be challenging. Things happen at times that are completely beyond our control- believe me I know.
From time to time in our lives we all experience difficulties. These may arise in the form of new situations, a bereavement, perhaps a traumatic life event or even simply feeling lost. Counselling provides you with a safe space in which you can explore your thoughts and feelings, as well as providing you with tools and strategies to move forward in a positive direction.
I can offer you that safe space. I offer face to face counselling, stress management and personal development sessions in a non-judgemental, confidential environment. I am a professionally qualified therapeutic counsellor with a range of knowledge, skills and experience. I have worked with people who have had a wide range of issues including anxiety, low self-esteem, work related stress, trauma and bereavement.
My core approach is Person-Centred and I use this as the foundation of our therapy. I enjoy this approach as it allows me to facilitate growth and change. I believe each person, if given the correct conditions, is able to gain greater self awareness and insight into their situation.
I work in a holistic way, seeing you the client as a whole person and not as an issue to deal with. I enjoy working creatively also. At times this is so helpful as it is not always easy to find the words to explain how we feel.
What to expect in your first session.
At our initial meeting we can discuss your needs and expectations. From here you can decide if you feel comfortable working with me. For therapy to be successful it is vital that you feel at ease and able to build trust. My aim is to provide you with the necessary ingredients to feel heard, understood and able to explore your current concerns and issues.
Additionally, I offer hypnotherapy for change. If you have an obstacle you feel you are unable to overcome I may be able to help.
I hold relaxation sessions, either one to one or within a small group. (3 max)
Please get in touch if you have any questions.
Whether you choose to ring or email me, I'd love to hear from you.
