About me

Thank you for taking the time to view my profile.

Sometimes, it can be hard to find the answers to your difficulties particularly when you are feeling overwhelmed, unsure that you can trust in your ability to make decisions, feel confused by past experiences, if you're struggling with changes to recent relationships, or personal circumstances.

Seeking counselling can often feel quite daunting: taking that first step to make contact can sometimes create its own anxiety.  Many people come to therapy not knowing where to begin, what to expect, or whether they will be able to talk openly to the person sat in front of them.

As a counsellor, I am here to offer support and help you find the answer to, or acceptance of, your individual experience.

Together, we can explore the complexities of your life and begin to understand the impact on your emotional well-being, which if left unresolved can sometimes create physical problems such as interrupted sleep patterns, loss of appetite, and low energy levels, leading to isolation and a sense of loneliness.

About Me

Being a person-centred therapist means that I offer a non-directive, client-centred approach. I value your worth as an individual which is expressed through my continued efforts to build a trusting therapeutic relationship by offering you empathic warmth, understanding, acceptance, confidentiality, and relating to you with ethical integrity.

I have a First Class Honours Degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy, a Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Practice, a Level 5 Diploma in Relationship Therapy, and  I am a qualified supervisor.  I have supported clients through a range of issues whilst working within two statutory organisations. I currently work with the Relationship Hub in Bury offering relationship counselling to both couples and individuals and I also provide supervision at 1point in Bolton.

Person-centred therapy is widely used in the UK and is known to be very effective: with clients continuing to experience positive change and growth after therapy has finished.

If you would like to find out if counselling is for you, why not give me a call or send an email, and we can arrange a time to get together for a free, meet and greet session. This will give you the opportunity to find out about the counselling I offer and how I can help you, before deciding whether you would like to attend counselling.

Should you decide that the therapy I offer is not for you, I am happy to discuss your needs and refer you to an appropriate colleague.

My therapy room is based at Inglestan House, where I provide a quiet, relaxing, and confidential space for both men and women to explore their individual experiences.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
