Karen Mcilvenna - CBT ONLINE THERAPY
Hi, I'm Karen, I am a professionally trained Cognitive Behavioural Therapist.
*** ALL sessions will take place via Skype or Zoom during the current Coronavirus epidemic ***
I am trained and experienced to work with a wide range of issues, from clinical disorders like depression and anxiety disorders, to general life concerns and difficulties such as stress, anger and grief.
I established my private practice in 2010 and I am pleased to say it quickly gained an excellent reputation for effective and friendly psychotherapy. I have also been involved in the field of emotional health for many years, as both a therapist and as a Samaritan volunteer since 1998.
If you would like to find out more about me or how I can help, please do get in touch.
Training, qualifications & experience
- BSc (Hons) Psychology (QUB)
- Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Therapy (BCTC)
- Registered Member MBACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
Areas of counselling I deal with
The cost of a 50 minute session is £50
There is a discount available for block bookings of six sessions at £250 (6 sessions for the price of 5), discounted rate requires payment in full up front and is non refundable.
Unfortunately it is necessary to have a 'same day' cancellation policy. When appointments are cancelled or not attended on the day of the appointment, a fee of £25 is payable for the missed session. In the case of block booking 6 sessions, the missed session will be deducted from the total.
