About me

It is not always easy to seek support or to know who best can help us. As a qualified, experienced counsellor, I can offer you a warm, safe, empathic space to explore what that support might be.

What I can offer

Building a trusting relationship between me and my client is at the foundation of my practice, underpinned by my training in humanistic theories. Recognising that we are all individuals with different needs, I am able to explore your feelings with you and working together we can find the right way forward.

Bringing my integrative skills into our sessions, we may choose to use different techniques such as CBT based exercises or creative methods. In line with a person-centred approach, I will be led by you in whatever you feel comfortable to experience.

We can't always change our circumstances but we can build resilience to better cope with our situation. My experience has shown me the hope that the counselling process brings and this continually fuels my passion for the positive outcomes that we can achieve.

Training, qualifications & experience

FdSc in Counselling - Bath Spa University

Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling - CPCAB

Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling - CPCAB

Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills - Weston College

Counselling Experience

I have held voluntary roles in charitable settings and also been employed as the manager of a counselling team, working with both long and short-term clients. These positions allowed me to gain experience of a broad range of presenting issues with adults of all ages and gender. I have particular expertise in bereavement and the issues encountered by those in a caring role.

Managing a team staffed by qualified and trainee counsellors afforded me understanding in supporting and mentoring mature students in their training. This was further developed in my time tutoring counselling skills at a local University Centre.

To fulfill the BACP requirement for continued personal professional development, I ensure regular training. As an example, recent one day courses have covered topics such as:

  • Understanding Shame
  • Using creative methods
  • Working with Anger
  • Historical sexual abuse
  • Living Bereavements
  • Domestic abuse
  • Self-harm
  • Therapy for Men
  • Mindfulness
  • Acceptance and Commitment therapy
  • PTSD and trauma

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
