About me

Space for you. Essex-based counselling practice.

I am a qualified, accredited and experienced EMDR and integrative counsellor, working towards consultancy. I have a level 7 diploma in supervision.

I offer counselling, for both short and longer-term work, to individuals with a variety of problems. Sometimes people have specific issues they wish to explore, with someone who has the ability to listen in a confidential and non-judgemental way, independent from friends and family.  At other times people may be worrying excessively, feeling confused, overwhelmed or low in spirit and benefit from sharing their thoughts and feelings in a confidential setting with an experienced counsellor. I have many years of experience working in the NHS, with clients who have chronic illnesses, Chronic Fatigue and Multiple Sclerosis.  And am interested in Bereavement and Trauma.

I am a senior accredited counsellor with BACP and work within their professional and ethical frameworks.

I am a qualified and accredited Eye movement Desensitization reprocessing (EMDR) therapist, I have experience working with complex trauma. I am a consultant EMDR practitioner in training.

I welcome you an opportunity to engage in sessions and create a therapeutic relationship, gain awareness together of the possibilities to make meaningful changes to your life and together examine the choices available to you.

My approach

I take an integrative approach to counselling, my core training is humanistic, but I integrate other perspectives and techniques in order to be able to meet the needs of each individual. I base my approach on the Person Centred principle, that individuals have the potential for growth and self-awareness.

My therapeutic philosophy is influenced by Existential thinking and the ideas that we are challenged with making meaning from our individuality, our strengths, opportunities and limitations.

I aim to help clients access their own resources to deal with life’s challenges, some aspects cannot be changed - but by working together we can gain new understanding and insight into past experiences in order to make different choices for the future.

I qualified other two years ago as a Trauma therapist using EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing, and I have now gained EMDR accreditation, UK and Ireland.

if you have any questions regarding any of this information please contact me.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
