About me

It is likely you are viewing my page because you are tired of feeling stuck, overwhelmed, unsatisfied, anxious or depressed. If you feel lost and need direction, you need to understand your thoughts and feelings, adopt coping strategies, or if you simply want a better life and better relationships; considering therapy means you have already taken a step towards improving your life.

It is natural if you feel nervous about talking therapy, or you do not know what to expect? Maybe you have experienced counselling before and need to make contact again? You might have been struggling for a number of years hoping that time will heal and things are not getting any better?

Whether you have suffered a traumatic experience, you already know the root of your feelings, or if you do not understand your feelings, As an integrative counsellor and coach, I draw from a variety of theories so we may work together according to your needs and personality

Common issues:

low mood / depression / stress / anxiety / generalised anxiety disorder / panic disorder / panic attacks / post-traumatic stress disorder (ptsd) / postnatal depression / low self-confidence / low self-esteem / ill health / cancer / dementia / carer support / abuse / physical abuse / emotional abuse / sexual abuse / domestic abuse / anger management / loss / bereavement / family issues / relationship issues / affairs and betrayals / separation and divorce  / child related issues / body issues / self-harm / abortion / phobias / trauma / bullying / work related stress / redundancy / career / dreams / putting others first

...or maybe you just do not feel like yourself?

I am a REWIND trauma technique practitioner. Get in touch for any interest in this non-intrusive, safe and highly effective psychological method for detraumatising people, which can also be used for removing phobias.

How am I different?

I believe in people as individuals with differing needs and this is reflected in my approach to each person. I work holistically to get to the root of any underlying issues or feelings of dissatisfaction that are presented on the surface.

Client feedback:

''My sessions with Karen are more often than not the highlight of my week! I’ve really
benefited from being able to speak to her regularly and my mental health has not only
improved, but I have gained a better understanding of where my issues come from, how
to identify when they are active in my day-to-day life, and how to combat them effectively.
I’m looking forward to continuing working with Karen to further improve my mental
well-being''. B. Client.

''Karen is so easy to talk to and made my first experience of therapy feel so natural. She has helped me address so many aspects of my personal and work life and I know feel much better equipped to handle things. I can’t thank her enough, she has helped me do things I
never thought possible, just by being able to talk things through with her''. K. Client.

''You made me feel really comfortable and like I could speak freely about any issues I had without feeling any judgement, which is precisely what I needed to be able to open up and work through the issues I had''. A. Client.

''Karen has been really helpful to me with regards to developing my self-esteem issues and becoming more confident. She has been so easy to talk to and has had a big impact on my life. I feel that the sessions I have had with her have been highly beneficial and I continue to use the techniques we discussed to continue to build my self-reassurance. I can’t thank her enough!'' Z. Client.

''The therapy helped me understand my inner thoughts and so I could design a life which made me much happier as an individual. You also let me speak through my issues without judgement and allowed me to come to the right conclusions which massively helped''. A. Client.

''Karen was extremely helpful and helped me sort out a lot of problems I've had for a long time, I feel like a much better adjusted human being since going''. D. Client.

''Throughout my time in therapy with you, I was made to feel completely at ease, even when discussing uncomfortable topics. I never felt pushed into talking about something I didn't want to, and I came away feeling like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. I was able to explore a number of coping mechanisms and techniques, which I have used in my own time and which have worked. All in all, I believe without your help I wouldn't be where I am today, even with the addition of prescription medication''. S. Client.

''Having Karen as my therapist has really unlocked a lot of negative thoughts and issues for me and enabled me to work through some long-standing issues effectively. I feel stronger and more positive. Karen asked me challenging and thought provoking questions to shift my thinking but always made me feel calm and assured me and gave me insight into the therapeutic processes we were working through''. A. Client.

''These sessions were the most comfortable I have experienced, very laid back and felt as though everything that I wanted to address was taken into consideration and discussed''. G. Client.

''I found Karen’s approach to my therapy to be extremely helpful and effective. She was flexible in approach and offered excellent guidance in exploring my issues. The partnership we developed was friendly, collaborative and built on trust and honesty. I would not hesitate in recommending Karen as an excellent therapist''. D Client.

''The therapy was personally, very good (and if/when/should I need to go again this is where I'll return to). You can tell that a lot of work goes into the planning of sessions alongside any outside research that Karen believes will help you. She encourages you to seek alternative outlets in combination of the counselling treatment to find the best solution to an issue. And on a personal level as a self confessed stubborn individual Karen showed a great level of patience and professionalism to maintain the best level of help and care even when I was at my least co-operative''! M. Client.

''I was extremely comfortable to be open immediately and discuss matters with you. I didn't find you sympathetic but empathetic which was appropriate for me. Your approach prompted me to process issues, sometimes outside our meeting, and find my own resolution''. M. Client.
