About me

I am a fully qualified Person-Centred Counsellor offering a professional, confidential, empathetic, respectful and non judgmental environment for you to explore and process any personal matters that you are finding difficult to deal with in your life. Together we can look at them and work in ways to allow you to move forward, gain peace and get the best out of your life.

I currently practice privately in Rainhill and St Helens areas. I have a vast amount of experience and knowledge as a Counsellor and working within the NHS Mental Health Sector,  has also given me an in-depth awareness plus valuable knowledge and understanding that enhances the level of support I offer.

I have worked with individuals who have moved forward in their life on issues such as bereavement, trauma, suicide, anxiety, stress, depression, panic disorders, abuse, domestic violence, relationship issues, affairs and betrayals, low self esteem and confidence, alcohol and substance misuse, family issues and many others. Home Visits are available for individuals that are finding it difficult to leave their home.

I am a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapist (BACP) being a member guarantees I have the recognised qualifications required and that I work proficiently and professionally within their ethical framework which ensures you are protected and receive a safe quality service. I also hold personal indemnity insurance and an enhanced DBS check.

How can it help?
Counselling is a journey that is unique to each person and that is done at your pace. Throughout this journey I would offer you respect, warmth, genuineness, confidentiality and trust at all times, supporting your move towards you understanding yourself better and enabling you to redirect your own life. As this approach believes that each person has the capability and strength to change themselves, within the healing process offered in the counselling relationship.

I would feel privileged to work alongside you, discovering what has been hidden or underlying for a long time to then move forward .

How to get in touch

If you require any further information or advice please get in touch by telephone or email, all of which are dealt with confidentially, as this is paramount to me.

P says "I had counselling with Karen for a few months , at the start of my first session I was scared of what to expect, but once I started my sessions it was like there was light at the end of a very dark tunnel . I couldn't of done that without the support of Karen , she was fantastic and the most important thing I noticed about her was that she was very empathic and congruent, that's what makes a good counsellor . Thank you Karen xx"

C says " Karen has really helped me through a hard time when I felt lost and couldn't see the light at the end of the tunnel. Karen helped me turn this around and find the light. I can't thank her enough for all her support"

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
