I am passionate about supporting children, young people and adults offering client led therapeutic counselling incorporating play, creative expression and sand play. Nothing gives me more pleasure than to see my clients leave therapy feeling more content and confident and able to enjoy more fulfilling relationships with others.
I offer a warm accepting space working in schools and nurseries where possible to limit the disruption to daily routines, where school visits are not possible, a community space may be used.
Children's ages I work with is 3 - 18 years, I also work with adults
The outcomes seen in my clients may be general for example, learning to manage anxiety and panic attacks, and raised self-esteem and resilience, or more specific such as a change in behaviour, alleviating fears and phobias and improved relationships with family, friends and others. Children may find it easier to concentrate, take in information and participate more fully in activities in and out of school/work.
All my clients are valued and accepted which allows them to feel comfortable to explore themselves, take risks and learn new skills, they often get a sense of self and begin to know their own mind within the therapeutic relationship. Health and sleep improvements can also occur as a result of the growth in therapy.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and Hypnotherapy and a Certificate in Children's Counselling.
My continued professional development includes training in creative techniques which are helpful with clients who find it difficult to express themselves and find the words to describe their experiences and feelings, this includes working with anger, anxiety and non-verbal clients.
I have a keen interest in attachment issues, adverse childhood experiences, psychological trauma and emotional regulation disorders.
I have trained to use The Rewind Technique for PTSD (which promotes closure of reliving, flashbacks and nightmares without disclosure of difficult and/or sensitive details).
I have over 700 hours of experience working with children one to one as well as many years of adult experience.
Volunteering with Samaritans for the past 4 years has allowed me the privilege to support a very diverse range of people at their most vulnerable times.
