June Whitehead BACP Accred Psychological Therapist
Bury St Edmunds
As a BACP Accredited Psychological Therapist I have over time helped and supported the well-being of people from many walks of life with the challenges of life - unhappiness, stress, anxiety, depression, illness, relationship problems, bereavement etc.,
Therapy focuses on you, your difficulties and gains insight into your emotions, feelings and particular times and events in your life, it considers and challenges the way you think and see things. Therapy's intention is to help you develop, understand yourself better or find methods of managing your life in a way that allows you to enjoy it more.
The good news is, that the positive experience of being listened to properly, by an active and impartial listener while receiving full attention allowing you to be heard and understood, can in its self enable you to feel better.
I will listen in an empathic, non-judgemental and respectful way as one human being to another, accepting you for who you are, and offer confidentiality so that you feel safe and free to express and explore whatever the issues that have brought you to therapy.
One of the most important aspects of successful therapy is the relationship between therapist and client and therefore I am happy to meet with you for a brief 30 minute session, with no fee. This initial assessment helps you discover if you feel comfortable with me, discuss your issues, ask questions and talk about confidentiality, before establishing a working contract.
As well as my private practice, which is conveniently placed in the town centre of Bury St Edmunds within a short distance of public parking, I have previous experience within an NHS Mental Health Trust environment and over 10years in a palliative care setting working with patients and families with a life limiting or life changing diagnosis, as well as with bereavement and grief.
I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their ethical framework. Details can be found at www.bacp.co.uk
