About me

I recognise life brings many challenges, and we all experience times of difficulty in our lives. Life events, unfortunately, happen…losing loved ones, challenges in our workplaces or losing jobs, breakdowns of our relationships, financial changes or pressures, challenges to our health… the list is endless.

The impact of these situations can create a loss of self-worth, direction or even purpose. I help clients make sense of these experiences and help move them towards a better understanding of themselves.

My counselling practice...
I am a qualified counsellor and have supported different people from different backgrounds with a range of diverse problems. I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) which is the largest professional body for counselling and psychotherapy in the UK, and I abide by their code of ethics.

I have regular training, learning and supervision to keep me up-to-date with best practices and developments within my industry. I also hold an enhanced DBS and I am registered on the Government DBS update service. I have public liability, professional indemnity and cyber security insurance in place and I'm on the register with the Information Commissioners' Office (ICO).

My counselling approach...
My approach to therapy is a Person-Centred one which focuses on empathy, congruence and unconditional positive regard. This non-judgemental approach provides emotional support and recognises everyone has a built-in motivation to reach for their full potential, but sometimes they need a bit of support to get there!

So who am I?...
I’m Juliette. I love chocolate, I dislike the gym (but I still go as it keeps me healthy), I love nature and pottering around my garden (free medicine and good for the soul!)

I live with my family and my fluffy cat (another free medicine, pets are great for your wellbeing!). I can be a bit of a sweary Mary (expressive, not offensive) and I love music. I love concerts and I love festivals. I love catching up with my friends and family. I love binge watching anything on Netflix!

Training, qualifications & experience

My profession before counselling...
I have always worked with people and prior to becoming a counsellor, I worked as a HR professional for a large manufacturing company. It took me nearly 13 years to realise a unionised and controlled environment was not for me. Rules, policies, procedures and conformity was becoming my norm but it didn’t feel right.  I recognised my profession was no longer suiting me, it was not giving me the purpose, meaning or work life balance I wanted so I decided to start a new chapter in working with people, but in a different way.

My life changed following a sudden loss of someone close to me. It made me question my life direction and put things into perspective for me, I regonginsed I had outgrown my HR role and wanted my profession to be meaningful and reflect me as a person, so I decided to become a counsellor. I left behind the world of business and started my counselling career to include the following qualifications:

  • Level 2 Introduction to counselling.
  • Level 3 Counselling Skills.
  • Foundation Degree (FdSc) in Person-Centred Counselling.
  • First class BA (Hons) in Counselling.

My counselling experience...
I have counselled bereaved clients at Myton hospice which introduced me to working with grief and bereavement. I have also counselled clients at Mind who presented anxiety, stress, depression, self esteem, confidence, loss, bipolar disorder and PTSD.

In addition to my private practice, I coordinate a counselling service for a charity who supports adults impacted by cancer in my local community. Awarded funding provides free support to families impacted by cancer in Coventry and Warwickshire.

My specialised experience...
For over 8 years, I have been counselling adults whose lives have been devastated by cancer and the ripple effect a health diagnosis has on someone's life. This includes relationship issues, employment and finance struggles, damaged family and friendships. I have also helped clients work through their issues of trauma, loss, body image, fear, worry, anxiety, low moods and depression.

My remote counselling experience ...
I have worked as an online Betterhelp counsellor using video counselling and instant messaging support.

My recent training...
I have completed the following courses within the last 12 months:

  • Understanding Autism, Level 2 (still currently studying).
  • How menopause effects the brain.
  • The Menopause and Mental Health (South Warwickshire & Worcestershire Mind).
  • Menopausal symptoms and cancer treatment (Macmillan).
  • Trauma, healing and hope: An identity-conscious approach to resilience (BACP).
  • Trauma awareness.
  • LGBTQ+ online course (Warwickshire Pride).
  • LGBTQ+ People and Cancer (Macmillan).

Working both In-person and remotely, I have experience of counselling clients all across the UK covering a range of life events and diverse issues. All my past and current clients have an age range of 18-85.

Whilst the scope of my counselling work has been working with the impacts of a loss of some kind, I am able to work with most life issues people struggle with. Please visit my website for further information or please do contact me for more information about how I could help you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The appointments I offer...
I offer counselling in different ways to reach different clients and all appointments are from 9am- 8pm most week days, I do not currently offer weekend appointments.

For those who wish to see me in person, I have a counselling room based at Dunsmore Medical Centre, Rugby, Warwickshire. I also offer remote appointments which can be offered either by telephone or online (using Zoom).

The first step...
The first step after you have made contact with me (whether by phone or email) is to understand what is bringing you to therapy. We can then arrange our first appointment or I offer a free 30 minute telephone consultation if you prefer. My consultation allows you to raise any concerns or questions you may have or for me to cover anything you are not sure of. Please be rest assured that each telephone call is conducted in strict confidence.

If I feel I am not the right counsellor for you, I will say and will point you in the right direction of where to find a suitable counsellor who may better suit your needs.

Our first appointment...
If we decide we want to work together, I will confirm our first appointment in writing (usually via email) and you will be asked to agree to my terms of counselling (my client agreement) which will include my cancellation terms. Everything will be provided prior to your first appointment but please do ask if there is anything you are unsure of.

Fees vary depending on the delivery method.
In-person appointments are £55.00 per session and Telephone or Online appointments are £50.00 per session.
