Julie Yates MBACP (Accred)
Sometimes the hardest part of counselling is getting started; if you’re reading this then you’ve already taken a big step forward. Welcome to my profile page, I hope I can help you with what you’re looking for.
My name is Julie and I’m an accredited integrative counsellor and clinical supervisor.
Counselling offers the opportunity to talk through situations, understand and express feelings. You can expect a comfortable, safe and relaxed space where we can develop a therapeutic relationship built on trust and respect. Whatever your reason for seeking therapy, I'll listen and support you towards finding clarity and making the changes you need. We can look at alternative coping strategies and practical solutions if you wish.
Before I became a counsellor, I worked as a nurse within the NHS for many years. My experience was in women's health, sexual health and health visiting where I worked with children and families. Although I no longer work as a health professional, I feel my background provides a good foundation for working with people in a caring, respectful way to support them with the personal and sensitive issues they are facing.
As an integrative counsellor I am able to combine several therapeutic approaches rather than working from a single theoretical model. This allows me to find the most helpful way to work with you as an individual.
If you feel ready to explore a little more of what counselling can offer, you can email me to find out more. I am happy to answer any questions you may have and help you decide what you want to get out of counselling. At that point; if you feel you'd like to continue we can arrange an introductory face-to-face session. This initial/assessment session is for us to meet, for me to give you further information and for you to ask any questions you may have. Most importantly it is for you to see whether you feel comfortable. It is so important that you have the right counsellor for you; someone you can relate to and feel comfortable with. I offer this introductory/assessment session at a reduced fee so we can decide together, the best way forward for you.
Generally, people benefit most from having weekly sessions however the frequency and number of sessions needed varies and I aim to work with you as an individual and provide a service that fits with your needs.
I am fully insured and have an up to date DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service, formerly CRB).
I am a registered, accredited member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework: http://www.bacp.co.uk/ethical_framework/
