Julie Yates MBACP (Accred)
Sometimes the hardest part of counselling is getting started, if you’re reading this then you’ve already taken a big step forward. Welcome to my profile page, I hope I can help you with what you’re looking for.
My name is Julie and I’m an accredited integrative counsellor and clinical supervisor.
Counselling offers the opportunity to talk through situations, understand and express feelings. Whatever your reason for seeking therapy, I'll listen and support you towards finding clarity and making the changes you need. We can look at alternative coping strategies and practical solutions if you wish.
Given the current situation and Coronavirus guidelines, I am not able to offer face to face sessions at the moment; I can however offer you online or telephone support. Many people are experiencing raised levels of anxiety, stress and worry at this time; you don’t have to cope on your own. I can offer you support by listening and helping you to work through your concerns.
Before I became a counsellor, I worked as a nurse within the NHS for many years. My experience was in women's health, sexual health and health visiting where I worked with children and families. Although I no longer work as a health professional, I feel my background provides a good foundation for working with people in a caring, respectful way to support them with the personal and sensitive issues they are facing. It has also given me a greater understanding of the difficulties faced by frontline staff in the current situation and offer a concessionary fee for NHS staff during this crisis.
If you’re left with some questions and would like to find out more, please feel free to send me an email. I am happy to answer any questions you have and help you decide what you’d like to get out of counselling.
I offer an introductory session at a reduced rate where you can find out whether you feel comfortable and if you’d like to go ahead and have some counselling sessions with me.
I am fully insured and have an up to date DBS. I am a registered, accredited member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their Ethical Framework: http://www.bacp.co.uk/ethical_framework/

Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
