About me

Hi, my name is Julie, I am a counsellor and a Supervisor and I have been practicing for over 10 years.

About my work with children and young adults...

For the past 4 years I have worked as a school counsellor, the children range in age from 5-16 years.

I use art, music and play to find the inner voice to learn more about what might be behind the anxiety, depression, worries or whatever your child maybe experiencing.

Exam stress, peer group pressures, body image, family issues, anxiety and self esteem maybe affecting your child and their well being and become overwhelming. Talking to someone outside of home or school may help everyone involved.

I hold a current Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Certificate and level 2 multi disciplinary certificate for safeguarding children to support my work.

My work with adults...

Talking about a problem is the basis to most counselling work and together we can create our own way of doing this.

Alongside face to face work in the room, we could use pens and paper, writing or therapy picture cards if we feel they are needed to help explore our work.

I also offer ''walk and talk'' sessions.

We would spend one hour, walking and talking together in the countryside, woods or around the village of Layer del a Haye, whichever feels right for you. The therapy will happen as we walk, with additional sessions in the room to reflect if required.

My supervision work...

I offer therapeutic, creative and reflective supervision to counsellors, student counsellors and peers.

I feel supervision is important to ensure a healthy practice in counselling. I encourage self reflection to explore your therapeutic work and your relationship with your clients.

If you are new practice we could look at the structure and development of your business, being self-employed, contracting, fees, advertising your practice and looking at how you want to work.

Where would we meet?

I work in a room that is on the outskirts of Colchester, set in woodland with free car parking.

My fees are variable depending on your income.

£25-£50 per session. I am happy to discuss this further over the phone or when we meet.
