About me

Are you feeling anxious, stressed, depressed? Do you feel the need to make changes in your life? Too much stress or anxiety can put your health at risk and affect your ability to function. It can also lead to physical, mental, and emotional problems.

Anxiety can follow extreme or distressing experiences and may cause feelings of intense apprehension or worry. Depression can be mild, with low mood picking up after a few days, or it can be consistent, lasting for weeks or much longer. This is likely to prevent you from functioning fully, and is not something that can be changed overnight, nor is it a sign of weakness or failure.

Therapy can help you manage your life differently or support you in developing coping strategies for your day-to-day living.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified counselling practitioner, with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I am a registered and accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice. My background is in Hospital Social Work. I am also a mentor for university students with mental health conditions. I work with adults from all walks of life.

Although I can offer general counselling/psychotherapy for a wide range of issues, My specialism (as you will see from my website) is bereavement counselling.

Coping with the loss of someone or something you love is one of life’s biggest challenges.

You may be experiencing a myriad of different emotions such as shock, numbness, disbelief, anger, guilt, anxiety and sadness. These may vary from one person to another and even from one bereavement to another. You may also be experiencing difficulty sleeping, eating or even just thinking straight. These are all normal responses. When grief is unresolved, delayed or complex because of multiple losses or conflicted relationships, grief is complicated and persistent.

Therapy can help you work through the grief process by honouring your emotions, by learning skills to help with day to day functioning, and to navigate through the relational complexities of healing.

Take the first step and contact J D Tree Bereavement Counselling.I offer a confidential, affordable telephone and online counselling service which is accessible nationwide. I assure you of a warm and accepting approach, as well as flexible client hours.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
