About me

Hello, I am an accredited CBT therapist with over 30 years of experience . I enjoy working with all mental health difficulties such as depression and anxiety and  for the past 17 years I have been  highly specialised in Complex PTSD and trauma.  My career began as a mental health nurse, then training as a CBT therapist with the past 17 years dedicated to trauma therapy, particularly treating  military veterans.

Life naturally involves peaks and troughs, and while we often navigate these challenges successfully, there are times when difficulties become overwhelming, leading to emotional pain. During these times, feeling stuck can be distressing, but I am here to help you explore, heal, and move forward. Drawing from my extensive training and experience, I tailor therapy to your unique needs, offering a safe and supportive space where you are always in control and can progress at a pace that feels right for you.

Your psychological safety is my priority, and therapy should always be a collaborative and empowering experience. I strongly believe that everyone deserves to live a fulfilling life, managing life’s ups and downs while feeling able to enjoy the present rather than just surviving. I recognize that no single approach suits everyone, so I take a flexible, client-centered approach, ensuring that we explore all treatment options together so you feel comfortable and confident in your therapy journey. Sessions are structured yet adaptable, with a clear treatment plan and goals so that you always understand what we are working toward.

Therapy is both an emotional and financial commitment, so I offer a free initial video consultation where you can ask questions, gain an understanding of my approach, and determine if I am the right therapist for you. If I believe another professional would better suit your needs, I will provide signposting to ensure you receive the most appropriate support. If you are ready to take the next step toward healing, I am here to support you with warmth, empathy, and expert guidance, helping you move from surviving to truly thriving.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have undergone specialist training in all evidence-based trauma treatments, including Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), EMDR, Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). Additionally, I have attended numerous workshops in Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Mindfulness. I have a strong passion for Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), which I have used extensively over the years.

I was privileged to be part of a specialist team led by Dr. Deborah Lee, a world expert in CFT, where we developed a 12-week group program to support veterans with PTSD and moral injury. This program helped individuals cultivate self-compassion, enabling them to rebuild their lives with improved emotional resilience and well-being. Many clients find that developing a kinder and more understanding relationship with themselves significantly improves their mental health, relationships, and overall quality of life.
