About me

I have worked in the field of mental health for over thirty years and am a fully qualified, accredited and registered member of the UKCP. I offer psychotherapy, counselling and supervision via face to face, Skype, telephone or email. Over the course of my career, I have worked across the NHS, private and third sectors with clients who are struggling with a variety of problems on both a one to one and group-work basis.

Existential Therapy

Existential psychotherapy strives to empower and place you and your life choices at the centre of the therapeutic process. Whilst I include psychodynamic, schema, attachment based and cognitive behavioural approaches, I fundamentally work phenomenologically, which means that your subjective experience is of primary importance.

The overall purpose of Existential psychotherapy is to allow you to explore and experience your life honestly, openly and comprehensively. Through this collaborative process of discovery, you are helped to gain a clearer sense of your experiences and the subjective meanings they may hold. Fully engaging in this supportive and sometimes challenging process can help you come to terms with yourself and how you relate to others. It will encourage you to choose ways of being in the present and future that you identify as more deeply satisfying, meaningful and authentic.

Training, qualifications & experience

It can be confusing to work out whether you should seek help from a counsellor or psychotherapist, especially when there is often a great deal of overlap in the services being offered.  The difference is usually the level of training and professional skills practice required.

Choosing a psychotherapist means that you can be assured that a nationally required minimum standard of education and training, professional skills, conduct, performance and ethics for practice has been met.

I completed an initial 5 years psychotherapy training at Regents University to be able to register with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) who are the leading organisation for the education, training, accreditation and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors in the UK.

The UKCP exist to promote and maintain high standards of practice of psychotherapy and psychotherapeutic counselling for the benefit of the public throughout the United Kingdom. The UKCP is accredited  by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care. The UKCP also ensure that psychotherapists continue to attend training and professional development workshops to keep skills and practice updated.
