About me

Hi, My name is Julie,

Many years ago, I trained to be a counsellor to help and learn about myself. By committing to my own self awareness journey, it enabled me to have a deep and meaningful relationship with myself, which enabled me to be able to help others as a result.  I qualified as a counsellor in 2003 and ever since I have still been committed to my own personal development journey, which has given me a great insight into others. I have the lived experience which I feel is important in the counselling profession.

How Counselling Can Help

Counselling provides a safe place for you to be able to explore and process your feelings and also to learn about you, what works for you and what doesn't. It is a place where I can be your companion on your journey and encourage you to be who you are and not who others want and expect you to be. Counselling can help you to overcome your fears and help you to process and accept your thoughts and feelings to enable you to live a healthier lifestyle.

I work in a non-judgemental, empathic way and have a natural ability to get into your world and provide the right support you need to process and accept your thoughts and feelings. I also encourage you to live in the moment with the tools I provide, which will improve your mind, body and soul and your relationship with self and others and an overall healthy way of living. I will help you find inner peace.

What happens next

When you have contacted me, I will be in touch either by email or telephone to arrange a suitable time for meeting.

What to expect in your first session

We will do an assessment to discuss your needs and the problems you feel you would like to work through. I will also give you some information on the way I work so you can see whether you feel I am the right counsellor for you.  If you would like to go ahead with counselling with me we can arrange our future appointments which can be delivered face to face or remotely via zoom or telephone. My service has been delivering remotely over all areas across Kent and London over the last three years and this has proven to be successful. This enables me to reach more people from all over the world. I am able to work face to face or remote working.

We can discuss whether you would like short term work or longer term work and arrange further sessions for a mutually convenient time and whether you would like them weekly or fortnightly.

My Specialist Areas of Counselling:

Bereavement and Loss Counselling
My specialist area is working with bereavement/loss and counselling terminally ill clients to live in the moment rather than being distracted by the fear which steals our quality of life. I also work with families that are feeling helpless and sad at watching their loved ones suffer.  I encourage clients to work through their different stages of grief and help them to process their difficult feelings and provide the tools to help them do this, and to find some inner peace around their bereavement/loss.

Anxiety/Depression/Trauma/PTSD/Inner Child Healing

I work with clients in finding ways to help clients find a healthier approach to their anxiety and depression, rather than relying on anti-depressants.  I work with the trauma/PTSD we suffer with as a child that follows us through to adulthood. I have a wide range of lived experience with this work. I encourage clients to become aware of their patterns and learnt behaviour to create change and healing for their inner child.

Children/Young Adults
I believe that if children can become used to accepting their feelings instead of pushing them away that they can live healthier happier lives, especially when they are older.

I work with a wide range of children/young adults to help them to process their feelings in creative ways and work with them to believe in themselves. I have a natural way of connecting with people and it shows when working with each individual whether it be child or adult. I work as a school counsellor and have experience in this field for many years.

Living in the Moment/Mindfulness

Practising mindfulness and living in the moment are approaches that I have used successfully with clients managing long term critical conditions and learning a healthier way of living every day life. The mind is so powerful it can keep us trapped in unhealthy patterns that affect our relationships and the way we view ourselves. I can help you to have a healthier relationship with yourself and others.

Group Work:

I run living in the moment groups and bereavement groups.

I have a natural ability to hold a large group and set boundaries for the group to feel safe with each other.

For more detailed information and my testimonials please see my website julierogerscounselling.com and please take the time to watch my you tube video in videos below.

I am here to encourage you to believe in yourself and to find your inner peace, why? because you are worth it.

Core Skills

MBACP Registered | Bereavement & Loss | Suicide Prevention & Bereavement | Trauma Specialist | CBT Approach | Anxiety & Depression | Client Relationship Management | PTSD | Supervision Qualified | Peer & Group work | Safeguarding | Risk Management | Inner Child Work Specialism

I provided a successful Bereavement and Loss Counselling Service as a Service Provider for Live Well Kent in partnership with Shaw Trust, for the last five years.

My service covers East Kent and West Kent and Medway. Since lockdown, I have run a highly successful remote service which enables me to reach all areas with a wide range of people that would like my support. I work with a range of vulnerable adults with complex PTSD suffering with mental health issues, trauma, clients in crisis and complex mental health needs. I also work with healing our inner child which leads to a healthier way of living and lifestyle which enhances our relationships in our personal lives and in the work place.

I provide comprehensive supervision for my volunteers and provide personal development for them. I have a team of six volunteers and within the peer support group that we run, there is normally one or two who would also like to become volunteers, so the service expands and is very beneficial to the service I provide.

Designed a mental health recovery package – Living in the Moment Workshop. I have put together a six-week course/programme which has proven to be successful in encouraging clients to live in the moment. This programme has changed many lives and encourages them to reach their potential.

Achievements

Provided high quality and person-centred therapy to clients who have been bereaved by suicide and other personal losses. My support has gained excellent feedback, often supporting the clients to work through the stages of grief and help them resume their lives, which is an excellent achievement.

I am a talented and adaptive counsellor, adept in providing therapeutic services in palliative and end of life care environments, my tangible success is in encouraging clients to live in the moment, whilst they are going through their diagnosis of cancer. This encourages clients to live a healthier lifestyle and gives them a quality of life rather than quantity, this has been proven to be successful with many clients, an example is my client who had 3 months to live, went on to live 7.5 years, living in the moment.

My programme- living in the moment workshop, covers anxiety, depression and supports individuals with complex mental health challenges utilising counselling in 1-2-1 and group practice work.  My service won an award for the Social Prescriber/Most Inspirational Person - supported by NHS England and NHS England Improvement Group.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
