Julie Mulligan BACP Accredited Counsellor
Hello, my name is Julie and welcome to my page. If you are thinking of getting some counselling you might want to know how it actually works. All counsellors are different and work in their own individual ways.
I offer an integrative approach for adults, teens and children based on 12 year’s experience which means I combine different approaches, to tailor my counselling style to individual personal needs. It’s more like having a tool box with lots of different tools in it and using the one that seems appropriate for you in the session.
Counselling for children involves encouraging them to express themselves, just as with adult "talking therapies". This is often through play, as it helps the child feel at home with sharing their feelings. I also work with couples who are experiencing a 'stuckness' in their relationship, or are having difficulty in moving past certain issues.
Some clients mainly want to talk things through due to experiencing anxiety, a bereavement, relationship, family issues and understand what’s actually happening to them. Others might want to learn how to communicate in a more effective way or how to deal with emotions that cause them problems like anger or depression.
What to expect: I provide a safe, comfortable and confidential environment, offering warmth, understanding and a non-judgemental space for you to just be. I aim to help you to gain control over certain areas of your life that you may be unhappy with or uncertain about. Together, we can help you live the life that you deserve and get to a place where you are happy to be.
I offer a free initial 30 minute assessment by telephone to ensure that we are both confident that we can work together and will also give you the opportunity to ask any questions that you may have.
This initial assessment is free of charge and I offer daytime, evening and weekend appointments.
