About me

We can all have negative thoughts such as 'I'm not good enough’, 'I'm unlovable', or overthinking 'what will happen next'. We can even try and predict the future, 'something bad will definitely happen', but these thoughts can often be extremely unhelpful. It is when these thoughts don't stop, or start to take over making us feel and act differently then it is time to stop and talk. At still minds I specialise in working with low-mood, anxiety and depression.

Client Testimonials

"Julie is quite simply an outstanding counsellor. She takes the time to understand you as an individual, meaning that all the work is personal to you. "

"Julie has helped me achieve a deeper understanding of my own challenges, allowing me to free myself from them, ultimately making me a lighter and happier human being."

"I cannot recommend Julie enough. "

"After only one session I already feel much lighter and mentally healthier. I could literally feel the weight been lifted of my shoulders. I already cant wait for my next session with Julie. She is calming, professional and good at what she does."

Training, qualifications & experience

I began my academic training with an honours degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Sheffield. I then went on to work in various fields from the care sector, to teaching, finance and sales before finding my passion back in the field of human science focusing on psychology. I decided to begin training as a psychotherapist and achieved a Level 5 Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling.

I now work privately providing counselling with Still Minds Counselling.

Further information

Still Minds is based in Whitley Bay, where I hold face to face sessions in my garden counselling room, where we can talk in a safe, peaceful setting. A COVID risk assessment has been carried out and all safety measures have been taken to keep the space safe. I am 2 minutes walk from a metro station and there is free parking available outside. Sessions last 50 minutes and are usually held once a week although longer sessions and more/less frequent bookings can be discussed depending on the needs of the client.

I also provide online counselling sessions that are held from the safety of your own home and confidentiality is maintained. Online sessions can be as beneficial as working in person and when clients live in rural areas such as Northumberland or as far as Indianapolis, they can still access sessions easily. Accessing sessions is easy and all instructions will be given. All a client needs is a device able to connect to the internet and a quiet place to talk.
