Julie Knights (MBACP, Dip. Counselling)
Looking for counselling - a positive step:
Maybe you are feeling particularly worried, anxious or frightened about something right now. Or perhaps these are familiar feelings that are now getting out of control and spoiling your every day happiness and enjoyment of life.
Possibly your mood feels low a lot of the time, or it might be that you feel depressed and aren't sure why, or even what could help to make it better.
If your mood feels low a lot of the time it could be affecting your relationships; you may have noticed certain patterns in your relationships meaning that they often don’t last, leaving you confused and lonely. It may seem as if you're constantly in conflict with your family.
Perhaps you think back and wonder if low self esteem has stopped you from achieving more of the things that you'd like to in your life.
Just some, or even all of the above might feel true for you. Whatever your reason for wanting to find out about counselling, and if it could help you to feel better, I would welcome the opportunity to talk about that with you.
If you’re someone that believes talking about problems and difficulties can help, talking with a counsellor is especially beneficial, because I am an impartial person with whom you can be as open and honest as you wish. I will listen to you carefully and without any judgement.
My role is offer support, empathy and understanding to you as you begin to explore things, and break out of harmful habits of thought.
It’s been my privilege to have shared in the counselling journey of each and every one of my clients, supporting them in times of pain and confusion, and celebrating the greater sense of confidence, identity and purpose that can follow.
Whatever we discuss will be kept confidential because I work in an ethical and responsible way.
Taking the next step:
I offer a no-obligation telephone call for us to have an initial conversation, begin to bring some understanding to your issues and talk about how counselling could be helpful for you.
Please contact me by email or telephone call, in complete confidence, and I will respond to your message. I have consulting rooms both in Redhill, Surrey and in London Bridge. I can also offer counselling via video call (Skype or Zoom).
Training, qualifications & experience
My Integrative training and clinical experience means that I'm able to work with you in the way which is most suitable and effective for you at that part of your counselling process, as well as at that particular moment in time.
I will offer you a wide range of help and support as you begin to work through the parts of your life that feel difficult, painful or less understood to you. I will support you to develop greater self awareness, identifying and strengthening coping mechanisms that are useful and beneficial to you.
We will always take things at a pace that you feel fully comfortable with.
I believe that the 'therapy relationship' between us is an integral part of the effectiveness of counselling, and I seek to establish an environment in which you will feel the freedom and security to explore any thoughts and feelings that you wish to.
Working safely within ethical guidelines and boundaries is extremely important to me, I'm registered as a professional by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (B.A.C.P), and I adhere to the code of ethics that they set out.
