What can Counselling with me offer you?
Firstly a warm welcome and a safe space for you to 'take some time out' and explore your thoughts and feelings.
In today's world we constantly hear the words 'stress, anxiety or depression' - these can be the symptoms of many aspects of our lives and prevent us from living life to the full. Often these symptoms present because of underlying issues e.g. bereavement, relationship or work related difficulties to name a few...
There may be a recent event that has left you feeling overwhelmed or perhaps you have struggled with something for many years and now feel the time is right to talk about this.
I can help you with exploring your past, gain understanding of the present and this may result in you feeling that you have more choice and control of your future.
Starting counselling can feel like a daunting prospect - but the fact that you are reading this indicates that you are now feeling ready and have taken the first step to making some positive changes.
I am an experienced BACP Accredited Counsellor/psychotherapist working weekdays & Saturday mornings in central Basingstoke. My aim is to provide a confidential space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without fear of being judged or told what to do.
Examples of some of the issues which clients bring to my counselling practice:
- Feelings of stress, anxiety
- Low self-esteem
- Relationship/family difficulties or breakdown
- Addiction (Including Gambling Addiction)
- Emotional/Mental Health
- Physical illness/Chronic Illness/Terminal Illness
- Loss of many kinds including relational, job, home, pet, identity etc
- Sexual Identity/Transgender
- Trauma - recent or historical
- Childhood Sexual Abuse
- Eating Issues
- Self Harm
My training is 'Integrative' which provides flexibility to use a number of different approaches depending on your own needs. These approaches include Psychodynamic (Psychotherapy), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Person-Centred-Therapy and Brief Solution Focused Therapy.
However for me the most important part of counselling is the Therapeutic Relationship - in other words the relationship that develops between counsellor and client.
I have counselled people aged 18 to 80, spanning a wide range of issues and situations. My experience has taught me that everyone is unique and accordingly I tailor my counselling sessions to your needs.
I offer short term counselling (6 sessions) medium term counselling (12 sessions) or Open Ended Counselling.
Personal Therapy for Counselling/Psychotherapy Trainees is offered at a reduced rate.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am an Accredited Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I work within the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy, and am fully insured with Professional Liability Insurance.
