Julie Hills MBACP Counsellor and Supervisor
My philosophy is based within the safe and trusting relationship between client and counsellor. A confidential space to share and explore your thoughts and feelings in a calm environment. This can lead to a greater self awareness and understanding enabling you to gain insight and the power to make positive changes. We all have the potential to grow and flourish and create an inner balance which brings us peace of mind. I believe our experience of childhood shapes our adult lives and defines our self concept which can have lasting implications. Unravelling these layers can be empowering and liberating.
I am a professionally qualified Integrative Counsellor / Psychotherapist and I offer long or short term therapy tailored to your needs in a warm, calm, welcoming, non judgemental place for you to explore your feelings.
My style is Integrative and I work with aspects of these approaches.
• Psychodynamic ( exploring past experiences and childhood )
• CBT ( changing negative thought patterns into positives )
• Humanistic ( person centred, individual needs )
My work is also informed by my life experience and all the challenges that life brings along the way. Family issues and personal history are important factors in understanding who we are. As a counsellor I am sensitive to your needs. I have a natural understanding and empathy and a genuine need to help people.
I work with couples in a collaborative working relationship to understand and explore the nature of the problems and facilitating helpful communication skills.
I also work with adults and young people with various anxiety issues, life changes and relationship difficulties.
I support people who are suffering from anxiety and offer help with strategies to move forward in a positive and beneficial way.
I also help people who are bereaved by supporting them through the grieving process and listening.
I am also a Supervisor offering supervision to qualified counsellors and trainees. Please see my Supervisor Profile for details.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
