About me
With almost twenty years experience as an Integrative Counsellor I draw on a wide variety of approaches that are appropriate to the individual, working empathically in a time sensitive model believing a safe, supportive therapeutic relationship is paramount. I am also an experienced EMDR Therapist and Mindfulness (MBCT) teacher.
I work with people of all ages, from all walks of life and have experience of helping across a wide range of personal difficulties.
As well as working in private practice, I have worked in the NHS for over fifteen years both within GP surgeries and Occupational Health. I provide Clinical Supervision for other Counsellors and Health Care professionals. I provide Stress management training within the workplace and Mindfulness courses within the community.
I have an ongoing interest in the emotional upheaval during transitions and life stage development.
Counselling provides a space for you to reflect, away from the pressures of everyday life. I would hope to sensitively help you;
- Explore the way you think, feel and act in a respectful, accepting and non-judgemental way.
- Gain a clearer understanding of the problem and how it is affecting you.
- To find a new perspective on the situation that opens up choice and a way forward.
- Make appropriate changes in your life that offer greater freedom and personal development.
I am accredited with The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and work in accordance with their Code of Ethics.
It is important that you feel comfortable with the Counsellor that you chose to work with so please feel free to call and we can chat to see if what you are looking for and what I can offer match up.

Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Further information
Having relocated home to Cornwall in 2008 I am enjoying adding to the work/ life balance with regular coastal walking. I love socialising with friends whilst enjoying spending time with my husband and two grown up daughters.
I regularly practice Yoga and meditation, love to watch football and when time allows I like to dabble with creative writing.
