About me

On our journey through life, we can become lost and caught up in negative thoughts and feelings. This will often impact other aspects of our life such as our relationships at work and home and can lead to anxiety, depression or low self-esteem.

Counselling can help us to identify and examine areas in our life that cause distress and helps to facilitate insights into the core of our thinking, our self belief, our behaviour and the imposed limitations to bring about change. You will begin to build resilience and feel empowered to use your own inner wisdom, and access your own inherent ability to grow and evolve and live authentic lifestyle.

When you understand who you are, you will begin to peel away layers of old scripts and ways of relating to people that no longer serve you. Once empowered to make the changes to become your happy authentic self, life will start to unfold for you, so you start to live a more fulfilling, stress free existence, which will transform the way you experience your life.

We work together in a safe, non judgemental, confidential and trusting environment. You will be listened to with warmth, compassion, empathy and acceptance.

I have experience of working with teenagers/young adults and adults with anxiety and low self esteem issues. I also have an interest in working with loss and change which comes in many forms such as loss of identity, loss of a loved one and relationship difficulties to name a few.

Whilst I cover all areas of counselling, my mains areas of speciality are:

Anxiety
Bereavement
Depression
Drug and alcohol
End of life

Eating disorders
Low self esteem
Loss
Stress

As an Integrative Counsellor, I embrace several modalities and skills that help me to adapt my counselling approach to suit your individual needs and to ensure the development of a beneficial therapeutic relationship with each other. My experience and training enables me to work to a specific focus or goal(s), as well as exploring personal challenges at a deeper level. I have a calm, empathic and honest approach, and extensive experience of empowering and supporting change for my clients. I am a wellness therapist and yoga teacher which gives me a holistic approach to my work, focusing on the whole person.

I am a group facilitator and also work as a breathwork coach so I can help you release emotions and stress through the breath which is also great for any one struggling with anxiety and panic attacks.

How to get started

I understand how difficult it is to find the right counsellor so I invite you to call me for an initial chat to discuss your needs. This is an opportunity to ask any questions and concerns you may have and to gain a better understanding of the counselling process. This is also an opportunity for you to feel if I am the right counsellor to work with you. Please feel free to contact me by telephone or email me.

The first session will be an assessment to understand your current difficulties and talk together about what sort of help you are looking for. Following this assessment we discuss whether you are happy to continue therapy. We then will make a therapeutic contract setting out the day and time and possible length of work together and cost. I am able to offer long term and short term sessions.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
