Julie Dods Integrative Counsellor
I am a fully qualified counsellor with a professional diploma in therapeutic counselling. My experience over the last 10 years has been mostly supporting adults of all ages in bereavement and those facing illness. My website is https://www.melioracounselling.co.uk/
Why counselling? -
Life can get in the way. Often there doesn’t seem time to absorb what has happened or how it has affected us. . We are naturally resilient but it is hard to see ourselves sometimes when we are stuck. Dealing with anxiety, stress, grief and loss are always hard, dealing with them in a pandemic is even harder.
Counselling provides a safe space to slow down and talk through whatever is troubling you to help improve your well-being.
How can I help?
Sometimes we find ourselves in situations not of our choosing. Having another person to bounce things off can be freeing from persistent troubling thoughts and feelings. I offer you my full professional support without judgement and a promise of confidentiality. Together, step-by-step we can look at new ways of being and find the best way forward for you.
I believe counselling can bring about personal growth to anyone who is curious about themselves. It can enhance some of the most rewarding change for the better. You are worth it!.
What to expect.
In our initial assessment we can discuss your needs and what you are looking to get out of therapy. This also provides you with the opportunity to decide if I am the right counsellor for you. If you are to choose me then sessions are normally on a weekly basis for 50 minutes.
Walk and Talk.
I also offer walk and talk therapy. This is an alternative to working with me in the traditional therapy room. Being outdoors can help the therapeutic process by boosting mental health, improving mood and helping reduce stress levels.
Being passionate about helping people has led me to become a qualified counsellor. My experience over the last 10 years has been mostly supporting adults in bereavement and those facing illness at a local hospice. Being part of the Hospice gives me a purpose and keeps me grounded.
My varied approach is drawn from different therapies. This means I can ensure that when we work together, it will be in a way that best suits you.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
