I believe that a respectful therapeutic relationship recognises that a client is the expert on their life and their needs, but at certain times, it is valuable and helpful to seek counselling to recieve additional support to improve insight and gain a deeper understanding.
Before qualifying as a counsellor, I worked within the NHS as a Trauma and Orthopaedic Nurse. Prior to this I worked in marketing for a major retailer. Both of these careers have given me a broad understanding of difficult, stressful and life changing events that people often experience.
