About me

About Me and My Practice

I work in a person centred way incorporating CBT into my practice if required, this gets to the root of the emotional distress aswell as offering practical techniques for you to use when away from the therapy room.

I work from private rooms located in St Helens with nearby parking facilities. The rooms are comfortable and tranquil, an ideal setting in which to enable positive change. I will also consider home visits. I also offer telephone and online counselling.

I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists. This means I meet the associations ethical standards and continue to work within their framework and code of ethics.

I have over 10 years experience working with numerous factors causing emotional distress such as depression, abuse, relationship issues, bullying, addictions, work related difficulties, anxiety, bereavement, low self esteem. This is not an exhaustive list.

I have been employed in many organisations as a counsellor including domestic abuse agency, drug and alcohol teams both for adults and young people. Schools, in primary and secondary settings.  I have collaborated with Kooth a Young Person's online counselling service.

I am also part of The Change Agency Ltd - a group of therapists who work alongside each other speacialising in many different areas.

I understand making the decision to have counselling and then choosing the right counsellor can be a daunting experience so to ease any anxieties around this I can assure you I offer an understanding, non-judgemental and trusting relationship which allows a safe space for you to make sense of and process any issues proving difficult in your life. Or it may be that you are unsure of what is troubling you, you just know something does not fit right in your life, it could be that you are stuck in a pattern of conflict within a relationship and need to explore a way of moving forward, I can help you explore and identify these difficulties whilst offering empathy and genuiness at all times.

Counselling is an individual experience and differs for each person. It will be solely your choice on where the counselling sessions go, how many sessions you need and when you end them.

I am truly passionate about the positive impact the counselling process can have on an individual or couple. I aim for this to be apparent within my practice. I feel very privileged to have witnessed many times, a positve change to an individuals mental wellbeing. Hopefully I can support you in your counselling journey and witness your positive change.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
