About me

Counselling can help with issues personal to you, ranging from day to day worries to distressing and traumatic events. I offer a warm, confidential and non-judgmental environment so that you can feel safe to explore any issue that is personal to you.  We are all unique and it is my belief that we all have the inner resources to live life in the way that feels right for us. Person-Centred therapy provides the conditions to access those resources and enable us to live a more satisfying life.

I am a fully qualified Person-Centred Counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I have been working as a qualified counsellor for over 10 years and my experience includes teaching counselling within a college setting and working with adults and the bereavement services, children and young people. I am experienced in working with issues relating to divorce, separation, family problems, depression and anxiety, identity and sexuality, low self-esteem, loss and life changes.

I also work for a national charity which provides emotional support for children and young people, and I mentor qualified and trainee counsellors.  My work has provided me with a wealth of experience of different issues that adults, young people and children face.

I work in private practice offering individual counselling in my home for adults and young persons (aged 16+).

The quality of the relationship between the counsellor and the client is paramount for therapy to take place, therefore I offer a £20 1 hour initial introductory (getting to know each other) session.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
