Judith Carson CTA UKCP Registered Psychotherapist MBACP Dip Couples Counselling
07780568496 / 07780568496
I am a qualified Psychotherapist offering a confidential space for individuals or couples to find a positive way forward through long or short term counselling and psychotherapy.
My approach is to understand what is important for you and to help you work towards making the changes you seek.
My experience as a psychotherapist and previous nursing career enable me to work compassionately and effectively with a range of issues.
I work with long term and recent difficulties - including but not exclusively, relationship issues, family issues, depression, anxiety, bereavement, sexual abuse, trauma, anger, identity and self esteem.
This is not a definitive list and I welcome enquiries.
Relationship therapy includes any combination of two individuals who are struggling within, or want to improve their relationship - different or same sex, parent/child, business colleagues etc.
While I also work with immediate crisis, many of the difficulties we encounter in the present relate in some way to our early experiences - how we made sense of ourselves, our relationships and how we learned to manage in the world.
My private practice is situated in a designated therapy room. I am located in a quiet residential area a short walk from central Guildford with free on and off street parking.
I am a member and work within the guidelines of the UKATA ,ITAA, EATA, BACP and UKCP.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a Certified Transactional Analyst (Psychotherapy) and a qualified Relationship counsellor.
I attend regular ongoing trainings to ensure my work is in line with current research and a professional approach.
My particular interest and experience lies in Trauma therapy and relational attachment and difficulties related to childhood.
This might include difficult relationships with parents, adoption issues, complex family dynamics, childhood neglect, physical or emotional abuse and sexual abuse, attachment (Bowlby Centre), and acute trauma.
I attend a variety of ongoing trainings in Relationship therapy to facilitate a broad and flexible approach to this complex and rewarding work.
I have additional trainings in working with Trauma, eating disorders and self harm.
As a State Registered Nurse, an Intensive Care Sister and District Nursing Sister I have extensive nursing experience overseas, within the NHS and private hospitals in both acute and chronic healthcare.
As an accredited Reflexologist I also worked in and continue to support Complementary healthcare.
In the past I directed my own business working with issues of body image and self- esteem over a period of 10 years.
I have spent many years living overseas which feeds into my capacity to understand and welcome working with cultural diversity.
