Judith Carson Psychotherapist, Supervisor, Relationship therapist, UKCP, MBACP
As an experienced Psychotherapist I offer a confidential space for individuals or couples to find a positive way forward through long or short term counselling and psychotherapy. I also offer supervision to students and practitioners.
My approach is to understand what is important for you in helping you work towards making the changes you seek. Ultimately you are the expert on you and I will offer my knowledge and experience to help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself and whatever is bringing you into this work.
My experience as a psychotherapist, my previous nursing career and my experience of life enable me to work compassionately and effectively with a range of issues.
I work with long term and recent difficulties - including but not exclusively, relationship issues, family issues, depression, anxiety, bereavement, sexual abuse, trauma, anger, identity and self esteem.
This is not a definitive list and I welcome enquiries.
Relationship therapy includes any combination of two individuals who are struggling within, or want to improve their relationship.
While I also work with immediate crisis, many of the difficulties we encounter in the present relate in some way to our early experiences - how we made sense of ourselves, our relationships and how we learned to manage in the world.
I have learned a great deal from the clients I have worked with and through research and study to find out how we can work through the legacy of painful events in the past without re-traumatisation in the present. Patience, pace and trust are key components to this kind of work alongside the development of a range of internal and external resources that I will help you find.
My private practice is situated in a therapy room alongside my home in a quiet residential area a short walk from central Guildford. There is free on and off street parking.
I am a member and work within the guidelines of the UKATA ,ITAA, EATA, BACP and UKCP.
I am also a member of TAG (Trauma and Abuse Group) and PODS (Positive Outcomes for Dissociative Survivors)
