About me

We are currently unable to welcome any new clients.

My private counselling space in the West End of Greenock sits within a tranquil setting with great links to public transport and plenty on street free parking. If you have mobility issues please let me know as I can also travel to your home or care setting if need be.

What Next?

Call or email me to set up an initial assessment which takes around 30 minutes and has no charge attached.  Once we have discussed your needs we can then arrange weekly or fortnightly sessions lasting 50 minutes.  How many sessions and the content of these is in your control - we will work together as equals.

Training, qualifications & experience

A qualified counsellor using an integrative approach and member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) working within their professional and ethical guidelines. I offer a safe, comfortable space where you will be fully accepted and free from any judgement. Together we can explore your issues, thoughts, feelings and fears at a pace you are comfortable with.

I have many years’ experience helping individuals with life events and challenges both within counselling and professional settings. I am passionate about counselling and have been extremely privileged to have supported others through difficulties including, bereavement, end of life planning, low mood, abuse, anxiety, trauma, relationship breakdown, self-harm, low self-esteem, redundancy, career challenges and many others.

Every one of my clients is completely individual and deserves a tailored approach in their counselling sessions. My predominant style of therapy is person centred but I will also include other styles including, CBT, Gestalt, Integrative, Psychodynamic, Transactional analysis and will at times use a coaching approach.

Your sessions may flow naturally between these or we can discuss which style suits you best. Together we can review regularly to ensure you are getting the most from your sessions.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

Clients I work with include:

  • Adults – from 18

  • Older adults – I believe individuals in the twilight of their lives deserve to be heard regardless of their physical health. It can be hard to talk openly with family or friends at a time when things that have been the same for years are changing so quickly. I can offer a safe, non-judgemental space and time at this crossroads in life to explore thoughts and feelings or just listen.
