Hi
My name is Joy and I am a HCPC registered Music Therapist.
I have worked in education for nearly 30 years, working as a teacher and a Headteacher before retraining. I now work through South Wales with groups and individuals, supporting their therapeutic aims and goals. This can be helping with; anxiety, grief, trauma or developing communication skills.
What is music therapy?
Music therapy is the use of music to address the physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of a group or individual. It employs a variety of activities, such as listening to melodies, playing an instrument, drumming, writing songs, and guided imagery.

Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
