Training, qualifications & experience
Jonathan is a Qualified Therapist and has a Masters in Arts Psychotherapy/ Drama Psychotherapy
Along with talking therapy, Arts Psychotherapy gives people that find it hard to express themselves through talking therapy a space for people to express themselves through the arts. The arts modalities we use are:
- Drama
- Creative writing(rap, poetry, spoken word)
- Art
- Movement
- Music
- Story
- and more
Arts within Psychotherapy uses the trauma informed approach which focuses and engages with the story and life of the individual. The practice underpins on theories such as Jungian psychology and Developmental psychology, which focuses on Carl Jung theory, which shares on the importance of the individual psyche and the personal journey for wholeness. Along with the psychodynamic theory, which focuses on the role of our unconscious processes and how early life experiences can shape a person's behaviour and personality. The developmental psychology element focuses on attachment theory, the developmental journey and the importance of family and community and how this impacts an individual.
Therapy can be incredibly beneficial for individuals in several ways:
Emotional Support: I will provide a safe space for you to express your feelings and emotions without judgment. This can help you process difficult experiences and emotions.
Self-Understanding: My sessions will encourage self-reflection, helping you understand your thoughts, behaviours, and motivations more deeply.
Coping Strategies: I can teach practical coping skills to manage stress, anxiety, depression, and other challenges.
and many other ways
