About me

I help people move from the difficult place they are in when they come to me to somewhere better. Sometimes this involves a change of behaviour, but at other times it is about finding a different way of looking at things that is more helpful. Often they can find these changes transformational.

I primarily work with people who want help with anxiety or anger issues.

Anxiety may be very general (often referred to as Generalised Anxiety Disorder),  or worry, or may be more specific such as a panic attacks, phobia or health anxiety. It may also be a reaction to a specific traumatic event. Whatever form the anxiety takes, there are common factors which most people find very helpful to understand.

like anxiety, anger is a perfectly normal and helpful emotion in its right place, however it is not helpful when it leads to overreaction be that physical or verbal, and often goes hand in hand with guilt, remorse and relationship difficulties. I enjoy helping people to understand their anger and find better ways of dealing with these 'short-fuse' situations.

I work with people online via an encrypted video platform. I aim to help people in the shortest possible time so they can get on with their lives. This usually amounts to between 1 and 20 sessions.

The service I offer is confidential and discrete and is carried out in accordance with the codes of ethics of the British Psychological society and the Health Care Professions Council.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am qualified as a Chartered Counselling Psychologist and as any qualified psychologist, my professional registration is with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) who's register is freely available for scrutiny online.

I have been practicing therapeutic counselling since 1991. This experience has included working within NHS therapeutic teams and in the private sector, both with individuals and organisations.

I am trained in CBT, psychodynamics and solution-focused therapies and have continued to engage in continued professional education throughout.

Further information

For most people, picking up the phone to speak to a therapist for the first time is not easy and requires courage.

Even if you are not sure, contact me today by phone or email so we can begin a conversation which might just transform your life.

If you decide to proceed, I will start by offering you a single session which will give each of us chance to decide whether we wish to go ahead.

From there I usually recommend weekly session as least for the first few weeks.

The decision about whether or not you choose to work with me is yours, free from any pressure from me.
