About me

Hi, I'm Dr Jonathan Banes. Thank you for taking the time to view my page.

I work with busy professionals and couples, who are struggling to manage their work-life balance and commitments; people experiencing high levels of stress, anxiety, feeling overwhelmed and low in mood. Perhaps feeling isolated or confused and sometimes grieving?

I also support business and people leaders to manage their own mental wellbeing, whilst ensuring they are accessible and supportive to their colleagues and families.

What to expect from our sessions

All sessions are currently online. If you are currently experiencing psychological distress, sharing your experiences and dilemmas in a safe, confidential space is a great starting point to improve your situation.

When we first meet I will listen carefully to what is going on in your life, what you would like to change, and how I can best support you to do that. We will try to understand why you may be having these feelings and what changes you want to make. We will explore how you can best make use of your relationships and resources to manage your wellbeing, to be resilient and thrive.

You may wish to invite your partner to the session, if you would like to focus on your relationships or family dynamics.

We may meet weekly, or less, depending on your needs and how you are managing. Our relationships can be brief with clear aims and goals.

Therapy and coaching tools

I am trained in CBT, Counselling, ACT, Family and Systemic Therapies. I integrate wellbeing, and leadership coaching, and self-help tools, such as apps to support my clients. After building a shared understanding of your situation and goals, we will use the approaches that will work best to support you.

Severe and enduring mental health

If you are experiencing ongoing distress, my experience in clinical mental health settings means I am well qualified to support you. We will work together to try to better understand why you are distressed and build a health management plan that we can regularly review and tweak. You may wish to invite your partner or a family member to our first session, so we can start to build a broad understanding of your situation.

I am certified to undertake mental health assessments and deliver reports, which can be shared with professional organisations, such as Insurance Providers, Occupational Health or Courts.

If you wish to communicate how our work is progressing with other professionals, I am experienced in working alongside GPs, nurses, social workers, psychiatrists and occupational health workers.
