About me

If you're anxious, depressed, having relationship difficulties or just trying make sense of your life, by considering counselling you’ve taken the first step towards change. And you may well be wondering  - will this work for me? The good news is that studies show that the majority of clients see some benefit from counselling and therapy. You might also be asking yourself – is this the right counsellor for me?

I believe you can only really answer that question through an initial meeting but what I offer is a confidential, safe space to explore what’s going on for you, whether it’s something that's happening in your life right now or issues from the past that you’ve never be able to resolve. It’s a collaborative approach where we go at your pace.

Here are some answers to other questions you might have:

How much will it cost?

I charge £60 per session and each session lasts 50 minutes.

Will you be able to help me?

I have successfully worked with adults and adolescents (16+) facing a range of difficulties, it’s something we can discuss in our initial session. If we feel there isn’t a fit I’ll try and suggest another counsellor or service that may be more suitable.

How long does it take to feel better?

You’re an individual and although other people may have faced similar difficulties before it’s different for everyone. We can talk about your unique situation in our initial meeting.

Where will we meet?

I work online and from a dedicated counselling room in the centre of Northampton and Market Harborough, there are several public car parks within 5 minutes walk.

How do I move things forward?

You can either give me a call if you'd like to have an initial chat or send me an email.  If you'd like to arrange a first session let me know your general availability and I'll suggest a time.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified counsellor holding a Masters Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Leicester University and I have achieved accredited status with the industry body, the BACP.

In addition, I have completed International Experiential Dynamic Therapy Association certified training in ISTDP (Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy).  I have also undertaken training in Coherence Therapy.

I have experience of working with adults and young people on a short term and long term basis.  As well as my private practice I have worked at Leicester Counselling Centre, Banbury and Bicester College and Corby Mind, with whom I have full CRB (DBS) clearance. I adhere to the BACP ethical code of practice and regularly attend professional development training.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
