John Parker MBACP, counsellor , EFT therapist and supervisor.
Hello, it's so important to get the right kind of help when you are struggling to cope. I put RELATIONSHIP at the core of my approach to therapy. You want someone you can relate to before you can consider going into detail about your issues. I am also a user of therapy myself so I know how it is to be in the other seat. It's my belief that pretty much all issues that lead to therapy - be it counselling, psychotherapy, hypnotherapy etc - are RELATIONSHIP ISSUES at one level or another.
You can also view my profile on the BACP counsellors directory, or on the National Counselling Society list of accredited practitioners.
Here are some of the areas I specialise in.
- TRAUMA issues (PTSD, Complex PTSD, Dissociative disorders, childhood abuse, rape)
- ANGER issues (RAGE, out of control aggression - dealt with in a respectful way)
- SHAME issues (TOXIC SHAME destroys lives)
- ANXIETY issues
- ADDICTION issues
- GRIEF/LOSS issues
I ALSO OFFER CLINICAL SUPERVISION TO PRACTITIONERS AND STUDENT PRACTITIONERS (You can find me on the National Counselling Society list of supervisors, and on the PODS list of clinical supervisors who are trained in, specialize in working with psychological trauma ( including childhood sexual abuse)
Where I am based
BROUGH is only 10 miles to the west of Hull, in the East Riding of Yorkshire, and, via the Humber Bridge, is well within reach of many parts of North Lincolnshire. ( I have had many clients from south of the Humber, and hope to welcome many more.) Goole, Howden, Holme-on Spalding-Moor, Newport, Pocklington, Market Weighton, Walkington, Cherry Burton, Beverley etc , etc are all easily accessible by car to BROUGH, and avoids the added cost and inconvenience of inner-city parking.
If you are viewing this you are considering the option of counselling (a talking therapy) and seeking a counsellor who you can work with. Why might you choose me?

What is relational anger management or empathic anger management?
(Based on the writing of Sue Parker Hall)
"A theory that distinguishes between anger (which is seen to be positively necessary for individuation) and rage (an un-thinking out of control emotion born out of unresolved trauma(s). The aim of therapy is to resolve and integrate past trauma in the belief that it will dissolve the rage leaving space for appropriate anger.
