John McVeigh MBACP, Dip. Counselling, Dip. CBT
The Counselling and Psychotherapy Centre
215a Lisburn Road
My name is John McVeigh, I am a qualified counsellor and a registered member of the BACP and work in private practice in Belfast. I can help with a wide range of issues, including depression, anxiety, panic attacks, post traumatic stress and addictions.
I am an integrative counsellor and use elements of humanistic, cognitive, behavioural and psychodynamic therapies to provide the best therapeutic approach for each client.
At the heart of my counselling approach is forming a supportive, non-judgmental, confidential relationship with each client in which they can safely explore and work through their difficulties.
in addition to working in private practice I also work at a community based counselling service where I regularly see clients referred by GPs and Belfast Trust mental health services.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and a Diploma in CBT. In addition to this I have undertaken training in trauma therapy and mindfulness based stress reduction. I was also trained by the bereavement charity Cruse and worked with the organisation for almost two years supporting clients struggling with grief and loss.
I have worked with clients experiencing a range of issues including depression, anxiety, panic disorder, post traumatic stress, LGBT issues, addiction, and OCD.
