About me

I work privately from home in a dedicated space, on the edge of Bream in the Forest of Dean GL15. Some clients find their own way to me and others come through employee assistance programmes. I switch from face to face to online or telephone counselling as required.

Perhaps you are on this page because there is something hurtful or confusing in your present life. Is something from the past or childhood troubling you? As you acknowledge and sort through what's going on, I will support you. I am skilled, safe, and listen well. Recent restrictions made existing problems worse for many and it brought for others a need to revisit old issues. In my counselling room, over a cup of tea or coffee, you can safely say the things you wouldn't say anywhere else.

We might meet for six to eight sessions, or longer term. In the first session we will decide whether to carry on with the counselling.

My method is 'integrative’, meaning it draws on person-centred, humanistic and psychodynamic approaches, and others as appropriate, including CBT.

If you would like more information, you are welcome to ring me to discuss how I might be able to help. If I can't answer the phone immediately, I will get back to you very soon.

I have a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of South Wales as well as a Postgraduate Certificate in Counselling. I am a registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), which is accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

In former careers I was a teacher and university lecturer in education in Bristol. Earlier qualifications include a degree in English, a PGCE and Masters degrees in education and language development.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
