About me
I'm Jo, I offer a warm, calm space away from the interruptions of daily life. Somewhere you can truly focus on you.
You may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stressed or confused. Maybe you find yourself overthinking things. You might be struggling with feelings of low self-esteem or negative body image. You may notice difficulties in your relationships or at work. You might feel that you know what you need to do but it’s hard to create new habits and stick to them.
I use a Person Centred approach, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Transactional Analysis. This means I can use different strategies tailored to your specific needs.
I understand that it’s not always easy to reach out for support or describe exactly what it is that you need. You’ve come to the right place and I’m here for you.
How counselling with me can help you
Life can sometimes become complex and challenging, which could lead to you struggling to process difficult life events or move on from traumatic experiences in your past. Counselling with me can give you the opportunity to be truly heard and can help you to begin to move on.
Understanding difficult feelings and why we respond the way we do can lead to a better understanding of ourselves. This can help you to develop coping strategies and lead to personal growth and acceptance. Helping you to improve relationships and self-esteem. Leaving you feeling more confident and able to move forward with life. Feeling more like you again.
What happens in the counselling sessions?
Counselling sessions will take place in a safe, private space in my home. There is parking available and I am a short walk from public transport services. Sessions will last 50 minutes and we will work together to explore what is going on for you.
This is your space and we will work together at your pace. Helping you towards your goals. I firmly believe that everyone has the ability to develop towards their potential.
I will value you and your story and work to understand it from your perspective.
How to get started
Opening up and talking about difficult feelings isn’t easy. It’s important that you feel comfortable working with me. Please contact me to arrange an initial consultation so you can get a feel for what it might be like for us to work together.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
