About me
As a person centred counsellor I work in a non directive way, what this looks like in practice is that I will aim to understand your experience in a compassionate and empathic way.
My hope is to work with you to help you gain awareness and understanding of the experiences that have drawn you to counselling, providing insight and challenge in a non judgemental way in the hope that you find acceptance, compassion towards yourself and change, if that’s what you believe is needed.
My person centre roots mean that I believe it is in the development of trusting, open and authentic relationships that we can best communicate with ourselves and with others. It is my hope in our therapeutic relationship we practice the skills needed for such, in a safe and positive environment
My current practice allows me to work digitally, with anyone living in the UK. Working digitally I work from home, however I work from a private office to maintain confidentiality and comfort. I offer video sessions and my current availability is for the evenings and weekends.
I am hoping to secure premises that allow me to work in person in the Loughborough area. If your preference is to work in person please let me know in your initial contact so that I can confirm the likely wait time on this service.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling accredited by the CPCAB.
I have been working as a person centred counsellor for 10 years, with experience in working in trauma informed ways, working with adults who have experienced self harm, abuse, complex mental health and relational difficulties.
I routinely support individuals through life changes, matters pertaining to identity, sexuality, health, bereavement, loss, anxiety and depression.
I undertake regular CPD, most recently undertaking a qualification course to become a clinical supervisor owing to my significant experience as a mental health professional.
I am registered with the ICO and hold relevant insurance policies and I am CRB checked.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
The first session:
The first session is an opportunity for us to explore your needs and motivation for accessing counselling, as well as look at how I can support you in those goals through my work as a person centred counsellor.
We will discuss practicalities such as regularity or our sessions, ongoing cost implications, and other contractual expectations.
It’s really important to me that you get the most out of your therapeutic experience so this is also an opportunity for you to explore what therapy can be and to ask any questions you may have.
In order to work safely and ethically, I will ensure we don’t delve too deep in the first session - as you may decide you need other than what I can offer, as a result, the first session will still be 30 minutes long at a cost of £25.
