About me
There are times in our lives when we feel completely lost and alone. We start to question our own judgement and feel 'adrift' without knowing why. Perhaps you have encountered a loss or change in your life or you are trying to come to terms with grief. Maybe you are experiencing anxiety and you would like some support in managing it. If any of this resonates with you, I can help you.
I am a person-centred counsellor providing a safe non-judgemental space for you to process and work through issues which are troubling you or causing you to feel desperate, stuck or alone.
Working face to face or remotely via Zoom or telephone, I can help you to deal with many of the issues which may be causing you distress such as loss caused by bereavement, relationship or friendship and family breakdowns. You may also feel loss or grief as a result of losing your job, change of routine or change of status. As a bereavement counsellor with a local hospice I also have experience of dealing with grief during the pandemic and I can help you to work through the extra layers of distress which this has caused.
Much of my research has also been in long-term grief, sometimes stemming from childhood loss or trauma.
I currently offer counselling from my home in the West Yorkshire Countryside where I work from my therapy room or garden room, whichever you prefer. Alternatively, I can offer 'walk and talk' sessions surrounded by the calm and peacefulness of nature if you wish to discuss this with me.
Please call, text or email me to arrange an initial free of charge 20 minute phone call/Zoom/face to face, so that we can discuss what you are looking for and how we can work together. If you are happy to go ahead we can arrange our first session and agree on the frequency of sessions.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a fully qualified counsellor and psychotherapist with an MSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Keele University, and a Post Graduate Certificate in integrated counselling from Staffordshire University. I am a registered member of the BACP and as such I adhere to their ethical framework.
Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
