About me

Hi - I'm Joanne and I'm delighted you have found your way to my profile.

Person-Centred Therapy / Counselling

I’m a compassionate and experienced person-centred counsellor dedicated to providing a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings. My approach is grounded in the belief that every individual has the innate capacity to grow, heal, and make positive changes in their life when given the right environment.

Counselling is a safe space for you to speak freely about issues that are holding you back from being your true authentic self, and quite often we find it difficult to share issues, fears, worries and anxieties with those closest to us.

As a person-centred counsellor, I focus on you as the expert of your own life. My role is to offer empathy, understanding, and genuine acceptance, empowering you to find your own solutions and develop a deeper understanding of yourself. Together, we will work at your pace, addressing the challenges you face while building on your strengths.

Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply need someone to listen, I’m here to support you on your journey. I have experience helping clients with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, self-esteem, relationship difficulties, grief, and personal growth.

Choosing a counsellor can feel daunting, but I aim to create a warm and trusting environment where you feel heard and valued. If you’re ready to take the next step, I’d be honoured to walk alongside you on your path toward greater clarity, resilience, and fulfillment.

Therapy for HR Professionals: Supporting the Supporters

Having spent over 30 years in HR, I understand firsthand the challenges of navigating through others' issues while neglecting our own well-being. HR professionals often shoulder the emotional weight of others, acting as confidants for employees, mediators for managers, and problem-solvers for leadership. This critical role can be fulfilling but also deeply taxing, especially when handling sensitive, traumatic matters such as layoffs, workplace conflicts, harassment cases, or employee crises. The emotional toll can leave HR professionals feeling overwhelmed, isolated, or burnt out.

Therapy and counselling provide a safe, judgment-free space for HR professionals to process these experiences, unpack the emotional burdens they carry, and build resilience. By working with a therapist, HR professionals can:

  • Develop Emotional Resilience: Gain tools to cope with stress, anxiety, and compassion fatigue while staying grounded and effective.
  • Process Trauma: Safely address secondary trauma from handling sensitive issues like harassment, grief, or mental health crises in the workplace.
  • Set Healthy Boundaries: Learn to balance empathy with self-care, avoiding emotional exhaustion while still supporting others effectively.
  • Improve Decision-Making: Counseling can provide clarity and emotional regulation, fostering thoughtful and compassionate workplace decisions.
  • Reignite Passion for Work: Therapy helps combat burnout, rebuild confidence, and restore your energy to lead with purpose.

By prioritising their own mental health, HR professionals ensure they can continue to be the empathetic, resourceful leaders their teams need. Therapy isn’t just self-care—it’s a strategic investment in personal and professional well-being. Supporting others starts with supporting yourself.

You can choose how to engage with counselling, be that face to face, remotely via video link, or taking a walk (and talk) in natural surroundings.

Please feel free to reach out for a confidential chat or to arrange an initial session. I look forward to connecting with you.
