About me

Thank you for looking at my profile and considering me as a therapist who may be suitable for you.

I am a highly experienced, specialist bereavement counsellor and will help you to bring your concerns and issues to each session. I have worked at a hospice for over 7 years, providing bereavement counselling to relatives and work with a diverse range of clients from a variety of different cultures and backgrounds.

I provide a warm, welcoming and confidential space to help explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace, and to work on areas that may be holding you back.

I am passionate about counselling people through grief and loss and I work with integrity, admiring all my clients who find the strength and courage to seek support.

I firmly believe that forming a strong, trusting relationship with you is always at the heart of counselling and is key to the success of our time together.

I currently have limited availability for face-to-face, video and telephone counselling.

Please contact me to arrange a free initial call to see whether you feel that I am the right fit for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • CPCAB Level 2 Counselling skills
  • CPCAB Level 3 Counselling studies
  • CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
  • Professional ASC cognitive behavioural therapy diploma
  • Gestalt Centre loss and bereavement in the pandemic certification
  • Bereavement training at St. Francis Hospice
  • Cruse loss and bereavement training certification
  • Cruse supporting those bereaved by suicide certification
  • OU telephone and online counselling certification

Alongside counselling, I have worked for a charity for 25 years; I provide emotional support to family carers on a one-to-one basis as well as facilitating support groups. I work with a multitude of people, including carers of family members with dementia, and physical health conditions, often with terminal diagnoses. I am highly experienced in supporting clients throughout their caring journey and for some, this includes post bereavement. At times, it can be difficult for carers to separate themselves from the personal trauma of the person they care for and this stress can often be internalised.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
