About me

I am a qualified psychodynamic counsellor and a registered member of BACP. I offer caring and effective professional counselling for adults, which is confidential, and puts you at the centre of the process, allowing you space to explore your difficulties at your own pace, without fear of judgement. Talking to a professional can be beneficial if you feel stuck or overwhelmed by a problem or difficulty in your life, or you want a better understanding of who you are. If you feel I may be able to help you please do not hesitate to contact me for a no-obligation discussion. If we agree to work together I will undertake an initial assessment with you, so that I can understand your needs and why you are seeking support now.

Psychodynamic counselling can be helpful in identifying the root cause of difficulties which you may be experiencing by working with an awareness of your past experiences. This can help you gain valuable insight and understanding into patterns of behaviour, which may no longer be helpful to you. This insight can lead to a greater capacity for self-understanding, an improved ability to make decisions and cope with current and future difficulties.

I provide short-term and long-term counselling, depending on the needs of the client.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • I have extensive experience gained working with a wide range of issues as a counsellor and intake assessor at a BACP accredited agency and also in Higher Education. I work with adults with anxiety, depression, anger, low self-esteem, social isolation, chronic pain, loss, abuse, OCD, eating disorder, relationship difficulties and specialise in working with clients presenting psychological distress in physical ways.

Diploma of Higher Education in Psychodynamic Counselling - University of Surrey

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
