About me

I am a qualified and experienced integrative counsellor and registered member of the BACP working in Rochford, Essex, near to Southend airport. I work with adults and young people over 16.

Life can sometimes feel like a choppy sea, with waves of emotion washing over us. Perhaps you are feeling anxious or sad at present. Maybe you are depressed or angry. This may relate to your relationships or work, or perhaps you are uncertain why you feel as you do. At times, you may even feel unsure what you are feeling, but just that you don't feel 'right.'

On occasion, we can all struggle to cope or feel overwhelmed with things that are happening to us, we can even dislike ourselves or our behaviour.

I offer a safe, comfortable and secure space for you to talk about your difficulties and how they are affecting you. I work compassionately, with respect and empathy. Experience has informed me that being heard and understood by someone who is trained to do so can help to ride out the storm, restoring an inner feeling of calm.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

As an integrative counsellor, I draw on a range of therapeutic models and approaches. These include person-centred, psychodynamic, CBT and integral therapy. I also use therapeutic imagery and other creative approaches, such as drawing. These approaches can feel a little easier than talking and can improve and enhance wellbeing. You may wish to try some of these ways of working, as they are also very useful in exploring and developing further insight and understanding.

By working integratively, I am able to use the most suitable approaches to adapt to your changing needs and requirements. For me, the most important thing is our therapeutic relationship. Research has shown this proves to be the deciding factor in effective and successful therapy.

I hope in our initial meeting you will feel able to speak candidly about what brought you to counselling, and what your hopes and expectations are. Furthermore, I hope you will feel free to ask any questions you may have. I offer both short-term and open-ended counselling. Should we agree to work together, we can explore what suits you and work at your pace.
